4 c. cooked beets
2 small onions, sliced thin
1 c. water
1/4 tsp. salt
2/3 c. vinegar
3 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. cloves or 10 cloves
1 tsp. cinnamon or 3 cinnamon sticks

I just buy 2 cans of small beets at the store, drain.

Mix water, sugar, vinegar, and spices. Heat, and simmer 10 minutes.

Add beets and onion slices. Heat thoroughly.
