CHERRY NUT BREAD
1 (10 oz.) jar maraschino cherries (reserve juice)
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter
1 c. confectioners sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. buttermilk
1 c. chopped nuts

Drain and chop cherries, reserving juices. Mix next 3 ingredients in bowl. Cream sugar, butter, eggs, vanilla in large bowl. Add dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk, beating well after each addition. Fold in cherries and nuts (pecans are best).

Pour into greased 9x5x3 loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until bread tests done. Mix confectioners sugar with enough reserved cherry juice to form glaze. Pour over slightly warm bread.

Tasty, but after trying it, I would double the cherries and nuts. Needs more flavor.
