BREAD AND BUTTER PICKLES 
15 med. cucumbers, thinly sliced
2-3 lg. onions, sliced
1/6 c. salt
2 1/2 c. cider vinegar
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. turmeric
1 tbsp. mustard seed
1/4 tsp. cloves
2 tsp. celery seed

In sink or bowl, put cucumbers, onions and salt in layers and ice cubes for 3 hours. In dutch oven, add vinegar and spices; bring to a boil. Add cucumbers, onions and bring back to a boil. With a slotted spoon, pack in jars and fill to 3/4" from top. Heat vinegar again to boiling and pour into jars within 1/2" and seal.
