BOSTON BROWN BREAD 
1/2 lb. raisins
1 c. water
2 tbsp. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1 egg
2 tbsp. milk
2 3/4 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
3/4 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. salt

Boil together raisins and water until separate; cool. Stir together flour, soda, sugar and salt. Add butter and vanilla to raisins. Add egg and milk to dry mix. Combine all ingredients. Bake in three small tins at 350 degrees 45-60 minutes. Serve hot with butter.
