GERMAN SOUR CREAM COFFEE CAKE 
2 eggs
1 stick butter
2 c. sifted flour
1 c. sour cream
1 c. sugar plus
1 tsp. lemon peel
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
2 tsp. lemon extract

FILLING:

1/2 c. sugar plus
1/4 tsp. lemon peel
1/2 c. chopped nuts (pecans)
Cinnamon (to taste)

Prepare filling by blending nuts, sugar, peel, and cinnamon in small bowl and set aside. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease spring form or regular tube pan and set aside. Cream together shortening and sugar. When blended, add eggs, sour cream, extract, and peel. Mix well, then add dry ingredients. Blend well. (Batter will be thick.) Pour 1/2 of the batter into pan. Sprinkle with 1/2 of filling. Repeat with other 1/2 of batter and filling. Bake for 50 minutes (approximately). Set pan on rack to cool before removing from pan.
