OLD FASHIONED TEA CAKES | |
1 c. butter, softened 1 1/2 c. sugar 1 tbsp. vanilla 4 c. all-purpose flour 1 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 3 lg. eggs Beat butter in large bowl at medium speed with mixer until fluffy. Gradually add sugar, beating well. Add eggs one at a time, beating after each addition. Stir in vanilla. Combine flour, soda and salt and gradually add to butter mixture beating until blended. Cover and chill 1 hour. Roll dough to 1/8 inch thickness on a well floured surface. Cut with 2 1/2 inch round cookie cutter. Place on lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 minutes or until edges begin to brown. Yields: 5 dozen. |
