1 c. shortening
2 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
1/2 c. water or buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
3 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon

Mix thoroughly butter, brown sugar, and eggs. Stir in water and vanilla. Sift flour, salt, soda, cinnamon, and stir into mixture. Drop with teaspoon on an ungreased baking sheet. Place 1/2 teaspoon filling on dough. Cover with another 1/2 teaspoon dough. Bake at 350 degrees until slightly brown.
