ENGLISH YORKSHIRE PUDDING 
1 c. flour
1 c. of milk
1 egg
1/4 tsp. salt (or to taste)

Sift flour, salt and mix together. Make a well round hole in the middle of the mixture, into which you will pour the beaten egg and about half of the milk. Beat well and gradually add remainder of the milk. Beat again for several minutes by hand. (The more you beat, the better it will rise when cooking.)

Let stand for about 1 hour. Heat a little fat from roast beef into an 8 inch square baking dish, until boiling hot. Beat pudding batter again before pouring into hot fat. Bake at 375 degrees for approximately 30 minutes. Do not open oven before, or batter will fall. Batter will rise very high. Crisp on outside, soft in the middle.
