1 c. brown sugar
2 c. water
Sm. dab butter

Mix above 3 ingredients in pan - bring to boiling.

1/2 c. white sugar
1/2 c. sour milk
1/2 c. raisins
1 tsp. butter
1 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. baking soda, combine with 1/4 c. hot water

Mix dry ingredients with shortening - add sour milk - add raisins, lastly add soda and hot water. Mix well. Pour hot liquid in 9 x 9 inch baking dish; spoon in batter - bake in 350 degree oven until top feels done (about 25 minutes). Use 325 degree oven for glass baking dish.
