POUND CAKE 
1 1/2 c. butter
3 c. sugar
5 lg. eggs
3 c. flour (do not sift)
1/4 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. vanilla
1 sm. can (5 1/2 oz.) evaporated milk (add water to make one c.)
1 c. nuts, chopped
1 (10 oz.) jar Maraschino cherries, cut up & dried on paper towel

Cream butter. Add sugar gradually. Add eggs, one at a time. Beat well. Mix vanilla with milk and add a little at a time along with flour and salt mix. Beat well. Add cherries and nuts last.

Put in greased and floured angel food or bundt pan. Place in COLD oven on lower shelf. Bake at 300 degrees for 1 1/2 hours (90 minutes) to 2 hours before removing from pan. Dust with powdered sugar when cold.
