RAISIN APPLE CAKE 
2 1/2 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
3/4 c. shortening
1 1/4 c. sugar
2 eggs
1/2 c. molasses (gives taffy flavor)
1 c. (17 oz. can) applesauce
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Sift flour with soda, salt and spices. Cream shortening. Add sugar gradually and beat until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time. Add molasses and beat thoroughly. Stir in applesauce and nuts. Gradually blend in dry ingredients. Pour into 2 - 9 inch pans or 3 - 8 inch pans or 1 - 9x13 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees about 20 to 25 minutes. Cool before icing cake.

ICING:

1/3 c. butter
1/3 c. brown sugar
1/3 c. light cream (evaporated milk or whole milk is also okay)

1 tsp. vanilla 1/4 c. chopped nuts 1 c. raisins (chopped)

Ice cake.
