BEAN HAM POT PIE | |
1 "baked" butt portion of ham Ham broth from boiled ham & trimmings 4 c. flour 4 tbsp. shortening, level 1/4 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. salt (if ham broth isn't salty) Approx. 1 1/2 c. water (cold) 1 can great northern beans Cut off good slices of baked ham and lay aside. Add water to bone and any desirable pieces for broth. Mix next 5 ingredients together as you would pie dough, adding water all at once. Let dough rest for 10 or more minutes. Roll out, a little at a time (divide into 4 parts). Cut into squares and drop into boiling broth. Stir and simmer 20 to 30 minutes. Add beans last 15 minutes with some ham pieces. |
