PEANUT BUTTER BARS 
1 1/4 c. creamy peanut butter
1/2 c. butter
4 c. Golden Graham cereal, crushed
2 c. powdered sugar
1 tbsp. shortening
1/2 pkg. chocolate chips (11 1/2 oz. size) or 1 c.

Mix peanut butter and butter in large bowl. Stir in cereal. Mix in powdered sugar, 1/3 at a time. Press mixture firmly in ungreased 9 x 9 x 2 inch square pan.

Heat shortening in 1 quart saucepan over low heat until melted. Add chocolate chips. Heat over very low heat, stirring constantly until chips are melted and mixture is smooth. Spread over mixture in pan. Sprinkle with crushed candies, or nuts, if desired. Cover and refrigerate about 1 hour, or until chilled. Makes 24 bars. (1 bar = 215 calories.)
