SALLY LUNN 
4 c. plain flour
1 c. milk
3 eggs
1/2 c. shortening
1/3 c. sugar
2 tsp. salt
2 pkg. yeast
1/4 c. water

Heat the milk, shortening, and 1/4 cup water until very warm. Blend 1 1/3 cups flour, sugar, salt, and yeast in a large mixing bowl. Blend warm liquids into flour mixture. Beat with electric mixer at medium speed for 2 minutes, scraping the sides of the bowl occasionally. Gradually, add 2/3 cup of the remaining flour and the eggs.

Beat at high speed for 2 minutes. Add the remaining flour and mix well. Cover, let rise in a warm place 75 minutes. Beat down and turn into a greased tube or bundt pan. Cover and let rise for 30 minutes. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 to 50 minutes. Run a knife around the center and outer edge of the bread. Turn onto plate.
