MAGNOLIA ROOM PECAN CREAM TORTE | |
1 1/2 c. brown sugar 1 c. cake crumbs 1/2 c. shortening 2 tbsp. flour 1/2 tsp. baking powder 5 eggs, separated 1 1/2 c. finely chopped pecans Whipped cream Finely chopped pecans for garnish (optional) Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease two 9-inch layer cake pans; line the bottoms with greased wax paper. Cream sugar, crumbs, shortening, flour and baking powder until smooth. Whip the whites until they hold a soft peak and fold into batter. Pour batter into prepared pans. Bake in preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes or until cakes test done. Do not over bake. Cool layers and ice with whipped cream, garnish with finely chopped pecans around edge. |
