BONBON COOKIES 
3/4 c. powdered sugar
1/2 c. butter, softened
1 tbsp. vanilla
Few drops of food coloring (if desired)
1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1/8 tsp. salt
Dates, nuts, semi-sweet chocolate chips, candied cherries or Maraschino cherry

CHOCOLATE GLAZE:

1 c. powdered sugar
2 tbsp. milk
1 oz. melted unsweetened chocolate, cooled
1 tsp. vanilla

GLAZE:

1 c. powdered sugar
1 tbsp. plus 1 1/2 tsp. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
Food coloring (if desired)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix powdered sugar, butter, vanilla and food color. Work in flour and salt until dough holds together. If dough is dry, mix in 1 to 2 tablespoons of milk. For each cookie, shape dough by tablespoonful around date, nut, chocolate chips or cherry to form ball. Place 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake until set but not brown (12 to 15 minutes). Cool. Dip tops of cookies into glaze or chocolate glaze. Decorate with coconut, nuts, colored sugar or chocolate chips if desired.

GLAZE OR CHOCOLATE GLAZE: Mix together ingredients until desired consistency.
