OLD-TIME CABBAGE CASSEROLE 
Grate 1 medium head of cabbage.

Add: 3 to 4 strips raw bacon, cut into sm. pieces 1/2 c. sugar Salt and pepper to taste

Mix in 1 slice of bread, crumbled or diced. (This is to take up moisture of cabbage.) Into a 1 1/4 quart casserole dish, layer raw green pepper, quartered, and cabbage mixture. If you prefer, fill green pepper halves with cabbage mixture and place in dish to bake this way. Bake at 350 degrees, uncovered, for 1 1/4 hours or until peppers are fork tender. Serves 8 to 10.
