Boil 2 sticks butter
3 tbsp. cocoa
1 c. water

Set aside. (I use Mazola, sweetened, unsalted for all my baking - it's very good for sweets).

2 c. flour
2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt

Pour hot liquid over dry ingredients.

2 eggs, well beaten
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla

(To make buttermilk - 1/2 cup milk plus 1/2 teaspoon vinegar).

Add all ingredients together. Mix well. Grease and flour a 13 x 9 inch cake pan. Bake cake in a 325 degree oven until cake comes clean with toothpick test.

ICING FOR WACKY CAKE:

1 stick butter
3 tbsp. cocoa
6 tbsp. milk

Heat over low flame - do not boil.

1 box powdered sugar
1 c. pecans
1 tsp. vanilla

Add this to above stated ingredients. Spread evenly on warm cake.
