BUTTERSCOTCH NUT BARS 
1/2 c. (1 stick) butter
1 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 1/2 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 tsp. baking powder
1 c. chopped nuts

Melt butter in saucepan, remove from heat. Blend in brown sugar. Add eggs, one at a time. Beat well after each. Add vanilla.

Sift together flour and baking powder and add at once. Stir to mix thoroughly. Gently stir in chopped nuts.

Turn into greased oblong pan, 13 x 9 x 2 inches. Spread dough evenly with spatula.

Bake in preheated oven 350 degrees (moderate) for 25 to 30 minutes. Don't over- bake. Cool cookies in pan. Drizzle with lemon glaze. Powdered sugar, lemon juice and water to taste. When glaze sets, cut cookie bars.
