PEAR PIE WITH GINGER TOPPING 
1 c. unsifted flour
1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. butter
1/4 tsp. ground ginger
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Stir together until coarse crumbs form. Set aside.

3 tbsp. cornstarch
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. ground ginger

2 tbsp. melted butter
1/2 c. dark corn syrup
1/2 tsp. grated lemon rind
1 tsp. lemon juice

4 med. pears, cored, peeled & sliced

Stir until well coated with syrup mixture. Place in 1 unbaked pastry shell. Sprinkle flour-brown sugar mixture over top. Bake in 400 degree oven for 15 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 degrees and continue baking for 30 minutes until topping and crust are browned.
