PEAR PRESERVE CAKE 
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 c. plain flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 c. raisins
1 c. pear preserves (or use figs)
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. allspice
1/2 tsp. cloves
3 eggs
1 c. oil
1 c. buttermilk
1 tbsp. vanilla
1/2 c. chopped nuts (pecan or walnut)

Combine dry ingredients in large bowl. Add oil, then eggs and beat well. Add buttermilk and vanilla; mix well. Stir in nuts, raisins, and preserves. Pour batter into greased and floured 10 inch tube pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Cool in pan 10 minutes. (Makes a real moist cake.)
