MONKEY BREAD | |
2 pkgs. dry yeast 1 c. very warm water 2 eggs Combine yeast and water until yeast dissolves, set aside for 10 minutes, then add eggs. 6 c. flour 2/3 c. sugar 1 tsp. salt 2/3 c. shortening 1 c. boiling water Combine dry ingredients, cutting in shortening. Add yeast mixture; mix well. Add water and mix with hands. Place in large bowl and let rise until doubled. Punch down. Knead and roll out on floured surface. Cut 1/2" thick with biscuit cutter and dip each piece in melted butter. Place in staggered layers in tube or bundt pan. Let rise until doubled. Bake at 350 degrees until browned, about 45 minutes. |
