AUNT HELEN'S PICKLES 
16 lbs. cukes
1 pkg. powdered alum
1 gallon vinegar
1/3 pkg. dill seed
1/3 pkg. celery seed
1/3 pkg. mustard seed
OR Whole pkg. seed spice

Let cukes sit 14 days in salt water. Rinse; cut up. Stand in alum overnight (water to cover); rinse. Soak in vinegar 6 hours; pour off vinegar. Add sugar and spices and sit for 3 days. Put in jars and seal.
