DROP OATMEAL-RAISIN COOKIES 
1 c. sugar
1 c. shortening
1 c. raisins
Pinch of salt

Boil raisins in 1 cup water for 10 minutes. Reserve 5 tablespoons raisin liquid, drain off remainder liquid. Cool raisins.

1 tsp. baking soda
2 eggs, beaten
2 c. oatmeal, uncooked
2 c. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. chopped nuts
1 tsp. vanilla

Drop onto greased cookie sheets. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Makes a soft cookie.
