ANN'S BEEF STEW 
1 round steak
3-4 potatoes
2 med. size onions
4 carrots
2 stalks celery
1 med. can stewed tomatoes
1/3 c. ketchup
1/2 tsp. fresh garlic
1/3 tsp. paprika
1/8 tsp. allspice
1/2 tsp. dill weed
2 dashes Tabasco sauce
3 dashes Worcestershire
3/4 c. cabbage
Chutney (optional)

Cut steak into bite size pieces. Salt and pepper to taste. Brown quickly in hot vegetable oil in large Dutch oven. Add 2-4 cups hot water. Cover and let cook until meat is nearly done. Add all other ingredients except cabbage to Dutch oven and cook until meat is fork tender. Add cabbage last 5 minutes. If more liquid is needed, add desired amount. If a thickening is desired, add a flour/water mix and stir constantly until the desired thickness is reached.

Serve this stew over rice or with corn bread and a cole slaw. This makes a good winter time meal. A suggested dessert would be Hot Apple Dumplings.
