APPLE-NUT DESSERT 
1 c. sugar
3/4 c. sifted all-purpose flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tbsp. soft shortening

Mix above ingredients with a fork.

Stir in until well blended:

1/2 c. evaporated milk
1 tsp. vanilla

Stir in until coated with batter:

1/2 c. broken nuts
3 c. diced apples

Spread evenly into greased 9 inch square pan.

TOPPING:

2 tbsp. brown sugar
1/3 c. flour
2 tbsp. softened butter

Mix with fork until crumbly. Sprinkle over apple mixture. Bake in 400 degrees oven for 30-35 minutes.
