1 pkg. yeast 1/4 c. warm water 1/2 c. butter, melted 1 c. milk, scalded 1/4 c. sugar 1 tsp. salt 3-4 c. flour 1 egg 1 c. raisins 1/2 c. currants 1/4 c. candied fruits 2 tbsp. orange rind 1 tbsp. lemon rind 1/4 c. chopped almonds Combine melted butter, scalded milk, sugar, and salt. Dissolve yeast in water and add slightly beaten egg. Combine above and add 2 cups flour. Then, work in fruits and remaining flour. Bake in elongated slabs on a greased cookie sheet at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes. When cool, brush on icing. 1 tsp. melted butter 1 tbsp. hot water |
