ALPINE GOULASH | |
1 1/2 lbs. boneless round steak, cut into 1 1/2" cubes 2 tbsp. beef drippings or shortening 3 c. coarsely chopped onions 1 clove garlic, minced 1 can tomato sauce 2 tbsp. brown sugar 1 tbsp. paprika 1 1/2 tsp. salt 1 tsp. caraway seed 1 tsp. dill seed 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce 1/4 tsp. pepper 1 c. dairy sour cream Hot buttered and seasoned cooked noodles Brown meat on all sides in hot drippings or shortening, turning to brown evenly. Add onion, garlic, tomato sauce, and seasonings; mix carefully. Cover and cook slowly until beef cubes are tender, about 2 1/2 hours. If desired, stir sour cream into mixture just before serving. Serve on hot buttered and seasoned cooked noodles. Makes 6 to 8 servings. |
