3 c. corn meal
1/2 tsp. black pepper
1 egg
1 lg. sweet onion, chopped fine
Sweet milk, just enough to hold the dough together
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
4 tbsp. shortening

Mix all together to form a soft dough. Shape into teaspoon size balls, drop into hot fat and fry until golden brown. Serve with fried fish. Makes about 100 puppies.
