CAKE:

3/4 c. flour
3/4 c. sugar
1/3 c. cocoa
3/4 tsp.soda
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 c. buttermilk
1/4 c. shortening
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/3 c. chopped nuts

FILLING:

1(8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 egg
1/2 c. chocolate chips (miniature)

Cream shortening and sugar. Add egg and mix. Add dry ingredients, alternating with buttermilk. Fill paper lined pans 1/2 full. Spoon about 1 tablespoon cream topping over each. Sprinkle nuts over topping. Bake at 350 degrees until tops are brown. Frost with chocolate icing. May be frozen.
