ALWAYS SOFT CHOCOLATE CHIP
COOKIES
 
2/3 c. shortening
2/3 c. butter, softened
1 c. sugar
1 c. brown sugar, packed
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla extract
3 c. flour, self-rising
12 oz. chocolate chips

Heat oven to 375 degrees. Mix thoroughly shortening, butter, eggs, vanilla and both sugars. Stir in flour and finally chocolate chips. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8-10 minutes or until light brown. Cool slightly before removing from pan. Makes 5-6 dozen, depending on how much cookie dough the cook eats.
