1 1/2 c. sugar
1 c. buttermilk
2 tbsp. butter
3 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. salt

Mix all ingredients. Roll out and cut. Be careful not to use too much flour. Cook in deep fat. Dry on paper towel. Roll in sugar or make a glaze of 3/4 cup powdered sugar, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla and 1 tablespoon water.
