1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. allspice
1 c. flour
1 c. nuts
1 c. chopped raw apples
1 c. chopped dates

Cream shortening and sugar. Add 1 egg and beat well. Mix and add soda, spices and flour. Add apples, nuts and dates. Mix well. Put in greased and floured 8x11-inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
