CHOCOLATE MERINGUE PIE 
PIE SHELL:

2 egg whites, using x-lg. eggs
1/8 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. walnuts, finely chopped

FILLING:

1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate bits
2 tbsp. sugar
3 tbsp. hot water
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 pt. heavy cream, whipped

PIE SHELL: Add tartar to egg whites and gradually beat in sugar until very stiff; add nuts. Butter 9" pie plate and line with meringue. Bake at 300 degrees for 45 minuts or until meringue is hard. Cool.

FILLING: Melt bits with hot water and sugar. Add vanilla and cool. Beat cream until stiff. Fold into cooled, melted chocolate. Refrigerate overnight. So rich that eight pieces can be served.
