2 oxtails, cut in 1 inch pieces 1 pkg. onion soup mix 1 lg. tomato, diced 1/2 tsp. thyme 1/4 to 1/2 tsp. crushed red pepper Black pepper and garlic powder to taste 3 c. boiling water Wash tails and sprinkle with thyme, crushed red pepper, garlic powder and black pepper. Place in roasting pan and bake in preheated oven at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Remove from oven. Pour off all fat. Add onion soup mix, the tomato and 3 cups of boiling water. Cover and seal pan on all sides with foil. Return to oven and bake 1 hour longer. Remove from oven, unseal the foil, watch out for steam. Add more water to pan and make gravy adding 3 tablespoon of cornstarch to 1/2 cup cold water, mix well and add to pan, cooking over medium flame on top of stove. |
