BEEF STEW 
3 lb. lean beef, cut in lg. cubes, not a pot roast
3-4 lg. potatoes, cut into lg. cubes
1 lg. green pepper, diced
3 stalks of celery, sliced
2 onions, sliced thin
2 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. pepper
5 heaping tbsp. tapioca
1 tbsp. sugar
1 (#2) can stewed tomatoes
6-8 carrots, cut

Combine the ingredients in a 6-8 quart Dutch oven in the order given. Cover and bake at 250 degrees for 5 hours.
