DATE NUT BREAD 
1 c. chopped dates
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. boiling water
1 c. sugar
1 heaping tbsp. butter
1 egg
1 tsp. vinegar
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. chopped nuts

Mix together dates, soda and boiling water; let ingredients stand until cool. Mix remaining ingredients together, then add date mixture.

Bake at 350°F approximately 1 hour in tall pork and bean cans or small bread pans which have been greased and floured. Remove from cans while still warm.
