ALMOND FRENCH TOAST 
3 eggs
1/2 c. half and half
1 tsp. dark brown sugar
1/2 tsp. almond extract
1/2 tsp. freshly grated nutmeg
6 (1 inch) thick slices French bread
2 tbsp. butter (or more)
1/4 c. sliced toasted almonds
Powdered sugar
Maple syrup
Fresh berries in season

Beat eggs and half and half in small bowl. Mix in brown sugar, almond extract and nutmeg. Pour into large shallow dish. Soak bread in egg mixture 5 minutes, turning at least once.

Melt 2 tablespoons butter in very large skillet over medium low heat. Add bread and cook until golden, adding more butter if necessary, 3 to 4 minutes on each side. Sprinkle with nuts and sugar and serve with syrup and fresh berries. 6 servings.
