AUSTRIAN BUTTER HORNS 
4 c. flour
1 1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. sour cream
1/2 tsp. salt
1 oz. cake yeast
3 egg yolks (beaten)
1 tsp. vanilla

Sift flour and salt together, crumble yeast into flour. Cut in butter as for pie dough. Add egg yolks, sour cream and vanilla. Mix thoroughly. Divide dough into 8 parts.

Dredge pastry cloth with confectioners' sugar. Roll each piece into an 8 inch circle, cut into wedges. Place 1 teaspoon filling on each wedge and roll toward the center. Place on ungreased cookie sheet and bake in a 350 oven for 12-15 minutes. When cool, sprinkle with powdered sugar.

FILLING:

1 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 lb. ground walnuts
3 egg whites (beaten stiff)

Beat sugar into egg whites, adding 2 tablespoons at a time. Fold in nuts and vanilla.
