EASY COLONIAL OATMEAL COOKIES 
1 c. butter, softened
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. all-purpose flour
2 c. quick-cooking oats
1/2 tsp. baking soda

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large mixing bowl, cream butter, sugar and vanilla until light and fluffy. Stir in remaining ingredients. Shape into balls the size of walnuts. Place on ungreased cookie sheets. Press down with glass dipped in water, then sugar. Bake for 10-12 minutes. Makes 3-4 dozen.
