1 uncooked ham Whole cloves 1 recipe crabapple glaze (recipe below) Place ham, fat side up, on rack in shallow pan. Do not cover or add water. Bake at 325 degrees for 20 minutes per pound or until meat thermometer reads 160 degrees. Half hour before ham is done, lightly score fat in diamond shapes and stud with cloves. Spoon half of crabapple glaze over ham. Continue baking 15 minutes, then spoon remaining glaze and place crabapples on rack with ham. Bake 15 minutes or until glazed. Remove excess fat and serve drippings as gravy. Note: For 12-14 pound ready-to-eat ham, bake about 3 hours or until meat thermometer reads 130 degrees. Crabapple Glaze: Drain 1 #2 spice crabapples, reserving half cup of syrup. Combine reserved syrup and 1 cup brown sugar, heat and stir. |
