SWEET AND SOUR CABBAGE 
2 tbsp. fat
1 qt. finely chopped red cabbage
2 sour apples, sliced
1/2 c. water
4 tbsp. brown sugar
2 tbsp. vinegar
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper

Heat fat in skillet; add cabbage, apples and water. Cover and cook slowly 8 to 10 minutes until tender. Add sugar, vinegar, salt and pepper. Continue cooking for another 5 minutes. Yield: 4 to 6 servings.
