FROSTY STRAWBERRY SQUARES | |
PART 1: 1 c. sifted flour 1/4 c. brown sugar 1/2 c. chopped nuts 1/2 c. melted butter Mix together above ingredients. Spread in shallow pan and bake 20 minutes at 350 degrees, stirring occasionally. Sprinkle 2/3 of the crumbs into a 9 inch square pan. Save the rest of the crumbs for the topping. Cool the crumbs. PART 2: 2 egg whites 2/3 c. sugar 1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen strawberries, partially thawed 2 tbsp. lemon juice 1 Cool Whip, thawed (or 3/4 of larger container) Combine egg whites, sugar, berries and lemon juice in bowl and beat until peaks form (stiff if possible), about 10 minutes. Fold in Cool Whip and mix well. Spread over crumbs and top with remaining crumbs. Freeze overnight. Keep frozen until just before serving. Cover with foil before freezing. Serves 12. |
