LAYERED SPAGHETTI 
1 recipe of sauce
1 (7 oz.) pkg. vermicilli pasta (thin spaghetti)
2 tbsp. butter
1/3 c. Parmesan cheese
1/2 c. egg beaters or 4 egg whites, beaten
1 c. cottage cheese
1 c. Mozzarella cheese, shredded

Cook and drain pasta. Add butter, egg, and Parmesan cheese. Put into 2 round pie pans or a 9 x 13 inch pan sprayed with Pam. Spread with cottage cheese. Pour sauce over this. Bake at 25-30 minutes at 350 degrees. Sprinkle with Mozzarella cheese and bake 10 minutes longer. Let set several minutes before serving.

SAUCE:

1 lb. lean, ground beef
1/2 c. chopped onion
1/4 c. chopped green pepper
1 (16 oz.) can stewed tomatoes
1 tsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. garlic salt or 1/4 tsp. garlic powder

Saute meat, onion, and green pepper. Add remaining ingredients and simmer about 20 minutes.
