RANGER COOKIES 
1/2 c. (1 stick) butter
1 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda
2 c. crisp rice cereal or 1 c. oatmeal
1 1/2 c. flaked coconut
1 c. diced dates or raisins

Beat butter with an electric mixer on medium to high speed for 1 minute. Add about 1/2 of the flour, sugar, egg, vanilla, baking powder and baking soda. Beat until thoroughly combined. Beat in remaining flour. Stir in cereal, coconut and dates. Drop by rounded tsp. onto an ungreased cookie sheet.

Bake at 375°F for 8 minutes or until done. Cool on cookie sheet for 1 minute. Remove; cool on rack.
