BANANA NUT CAKE 
2 1/2 c. cake flour, sifted
1 2/3 c. sugar
1 1/4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 c. nuts, chopped
2/3 c. soft butter
1 1/4 c. bananas or 4 med., mashed
2/3 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla

Sift dry ingredients together in large mixing bowl. Add shortening, bananas and buttermilk. Beat with mixer and add eggs and vanilla. Beat 2 minutes and add nuts. Bake 30 to 35 minutes.

CREAM CHEESE ICING:

1 stick butter
1 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese, softened

Melt butter and cream into softened cream cheese. Blend powdered sugar to taste. Flavor with vanilla.
