IRISH SODA BREAD | |
4 cups flour 1/3 cup sugar 1 tsp. salt 1 1/2 tsp. baking soda 3/4 cup currants or raisins 3 tsp. caraway seeds 1 1/2 cups sour milk or buttermilk Combine all ingredients. Knead (not alot) on floured surface. Split in two. Score each on top. Bake at 350°F for 45 minutes. Rub with butter on top when just out of the oven. Note: To make sour milk, just add 1/2 teaspoon white or apple cider vinegar to regular milk. Makes 2 loaves. Submitted by: Juliette Peterson |
