MOTHER'S BISCUIT MIX 
14 c. unsifted flour
2/3 c. granulated sugar
1/2 c. baking powder
6 tsp. salt
3 level tsp. cream of tartar
2 1/2 c. shortening (vegetable)

Sift dry ingredients once in large mixing bowl. Crumble shortening with fingers into dry mix. Use electric mixer and blend well. Store in cool, dry place. Makes 1 gallon of mix.

BISCUITS FROM MIX:

3/4 c. biscuit mix
1/2 c. milk (dry milk & water may be used)

Roll out on lightly floured (use the mix) board. Yield 18 biscuits. Bake at 450 degrees for 8-10 minutes.

PIZZA FROM MIX:

3/4 c. lukewarm water
1 pkg. dry yeast
2 1/2 c. biscuit mix

Dissolve yeast in the water with 2 teaspoons sugar added. Let rise. Add biscuit mix. Beat knead until smooth (about 25 times). Use mix on board when kneading. Cover with damp cloth or large bowl. Let stand while you fix topping. Roll and top.
