GREEN TOMATO PICKLES 
7 lbs. sliced green tomatoes
2 c. household lime
3 gallons water
5 c. vinegar
5 lbs. sugar
5 tbsp. whole pickling spice

Mix household lime and water; add tomatoes and salt 24 hours. Drain off and rinse in cold water. Change every hour for 4 times; drain. Cover with crushed ice for a little while. Mix vinegar, sugar and spices; boil 5 minutes. Leave in syrup overnight then simmer 1 hour. Pack in clean jars.
