LOAF FRUIT CAKE 
1 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
8 oz. maraschino cherries (drained)
1 lb. walnuts (whole), 2 c.
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
4 eggs, well beaten
1 lb. dates (uncut)

Pan size 5x9 inch. Resift flour in large bowl with sugar, salt and baking powder. Add fruit and nuts to flour mixture, stir until well coated. Blend vanilla into well beaten eggs and pour over bowl mixture. Use hands to mix thoroughly.

Line greased loaf pan with heavy brown paper, grease well. Spoon in batter. Bake in slow oven (325 degrees) 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 hours. Remove from oven. Cool. Pull paper off slowly.
